Opening Ceremony of the Olympics

This year we have the great pleasure of watching the summer Olympics in Beijing. For those of you who did not see the opening ceremony, please search for it on You Tube. It was one of the most amazing displays of art, discipline and creativity I have ever seen.

One of my favorite parts is when the boxes were spelling harmony in Chinese and mimicking a water drop in a lake. It takes great skill and discipline to synchronize 2008 people to do anything.

It reminds me of the human body and how many different processes are going on concurrently. Your kidneys are filtering your blood, your muscles are moving automatically, and while you are breathing your lungs are filtering the air. We have sensory input to our brain letting us know if we are inflamed, off-balance or feeling great. Just like opening ceremonies, the human body can morph to take on unbelievable tasks.

Olympians train there bodies 365 days a year for hours, usually for years before the Olympics. All of that preparation is needed for an event that usually does not last over two minutes. Most of these athletes are under the care of a chiropractor and have felt the healing benefits of hands on care. Take the time to nurture, stretch and strengthen your body and you might just be able to go to the Olympics in 2012. ;)
