Autism and Food Interolance
This blog is geared toward parents or relatives of ADHD and autistic children. Autism statistics are OUT OF CONTROL. The latest statistic is that 1 out of every 88 children born this year will suffer from the debilitating disease of autism.
Parents of autistic children have been making great strides to increase awareness that not only is over-vaccinating your children harmful, but also allowing (and providing) children to eat foods with high levels of gluten and casein will exacerbate the symptoms of autism.
When I was a baby I received vaccinations total. Now there are more than 32 vaccines that are given to babies who are less than 6 months old. The fragile immune system of these children can not handle the onslaught of vaccines and the immune system starts to fail. This is compounded by the fact that antibodies can be released in response to ingesting foods that are over processed. This leads to food allergies and the lining of the intestinal track can become leaky and cause severe gastrointestinal issues.
There is so much new research in this field and the one theory that has gotten the best result from parents with autistic children is the casein-free and gluten free diet. This means eliminating these foods from the diet.
The following is an easy chart to see what foods contain gluten and casein:
|
Sources of Gluten |
Sources of Casein |
|
Wheat, oat, barley, rye, bagels, biscuits, pasta, breads, cereals |
Animal milk, butter, all cheese, cream, evaporated milk, ice cream |
|
Malted drinks, beer, juice punch |
kefir |
|
Syrup, confectioner sugar |
Sherbet, whey, yogurt |
|
Anything with artificial flavor or color |
Cottage cheese, cream cheese |
You may be wondering, “If my child can not eat any of these foods than what can they possibly eat?”
There are great substitutes for both gluten and casein. I would happy to discuss some of them with you personally. Not to sound like the song but, “The children are the future!” and we want to make sure that they are happy and healthy.
I will leave you will a great recipe that is both gluten free and casein free:
Banana Bread:
1. ˝ cup canola oil
2. 2 large eggs
3. 1 teaspoon vanilla
4. ˝ cup dairy free vanilla pudding mixed with 1 teaspoon xanthan gum
5. 1 ripe banana mashed
6. 1 package Old Fashioned Cake and Cookie Mix from Gluten Free Pantry or 1 package Miss Roben yellow cake mix
Grease loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix the first five ingredients. Fold in cake mix. Pour into 6 cup loaf pan. Bake 50 minutes until the center is cooked.
Enjoy!
